Last week, our team from LiveSen-MAP and NutriSen had the fantastic opportunity to participate in the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) in Berlin. With our own booth, we showcased our innovative products and engaged in numerous valuable conversations with representatives from various countries in Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
Intensive Discussions and Valuable Contacts
Although we initially planned to attend some of the exciting lectures, we were so engrossed in conversations that there was no time for that. However, these discussions proved to be extremely fruitful. We met a wide range of participants, including politicians, journalists, farmers, representatives from organizations like GIZ, as well as startups and SMEs from the agricultural sector.
A central topic of many conversations was nitrate fertilization in agriculture. Our conversation partners showed great interest in our solutions for measuring and monitoring nitrate levels in the soil. Farmers and representatives from agricultural organizations were particularly interested in how our measuring devices and test strips can help optimize the use of fertilizers while reducing environmental impact
Challenges faced by the farmers
In many countries, there are no laws or good practices regarding nitrate fertilization, meaning farmers often have no basis for making decisions about the amount of fertilizer to use. In countries like Ghana or Nigeria, fertilizers sometimes account for 50% of farmers' costs. These high costs pose a significant burden.
Another issue is the uncertainty about how well the fertilization is working. Many farmers are concerned about whether everything is in order, which often keeps them up at night. Our solutions offer a way to reduce this uncertainty and check the effectiveness of fertilization.
New Partnerships and Campaigns
We were particularly pleased to gain potential farmers for our campaigns and to establish possible future partnerships for international expansion. In the discussions, we presented our products – the measuring device and the test strips – and discussed their various applications. We gained valuable insights into the specific needs and challenges of farmers in different regions and adapted our solutions accordingly.
Looking to the future!
Participating in the GFFA was a great success for us and opened up many new perspectives. We look forward to deepening the contacts we made and developing innovative solutions for agriculture together with our new partners. Of course, we still need to work diligently to reduce the effort of measurement and especially the price, to reach the global market. However, the potential is enormous!
